This is about a lay response to our bishops’ call to new evangelization. It focuses on reaching out to those among us whose faith-life has been largely eroded and even lost due to the surrounding confusion, moral relativism, doubt, agnosticism; reaching out to those who have drifted from the Faith and the Church, and have joined other religious sects. Its focus is on re-evangelizing nominal, cultural or lapsed Catholics. Its goal is to bring Catholics back to Christ and to an active life in the parish.
Evangelized Catholics will then care for their children and families, will live a preferential option for the poor, and will be the warm bodies that will do missio ad gentes.
This is the Live Christ, Share Christ (LCSC) Mission. It is intended for Catholics to meet Christ, live Christ and share Christ. It is designed for rapid and massive evangelization, accompanied by the systematic empowerment of laypeople to participate in the work.
For more information and if you are interested in establishing this new evangelization mission in your parish or diocese, we are ready to help. Please contact us.
It is hoped that through this mission, the Church will be able to mainstream Catholic lay evangelization. In this way, the Catholic Church will truly become a missionary Church.
LCSC is also ready to provide formation as needed. We have ready programs for youth, for married couples, for migrants, for Bible appreciation, for pro-life advocacy, for work with the poor, and for leaders’ formation.
IN PARTICULAR, LCSC WOULD LIKE TO PRESENT 5 BASIC PILLARS THAT CAN SUPPLEMENT ITS WORK IN THE PARISH. THESE ARE: (1) LIVE PURE, (2) LIVE THE WORD, (3) LIVE LIFE, (4)LIVE FULL AND (5) LIVE THE FAITH.
LIVE PURE
WE PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF PURITY.
“Everyone who has this hope based on him makes himself pure, as he is pure.” (1 Jn 3:3)
The challenge: The culture of sex in the world is bringing young people more and more into deviant sexual behavior. The next generation of adult Christians is seriously under threat. How can we protect and empower our young people to live for Christ?
Live Pure (LP) is a movement promoting chastity for the youth. Young people are helped to strive for purity of mind, eyes, speech and body, as they live out the established God-given values of human dignity, relationships, waiting and love.
LIVE THE WORD
WE PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF GOD’S WORD.
“Proclaim the word; be persistent whether it is convenient or inconvenient; convince, reprimand, encourage through all patience and teaching.” (2 Tm 4:2).
“All scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for refutation, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that one who belongs to God may be competent, equipped for every good work.” (2 Tm 3:16-17)
The challenge: There are still many Catholics are very weak on knowing and using the Bible, the very word of God. But ignorance of the scriptures is ignorance of Christ. How can Catholics grow to holiness and Christian perfection without the Bible?
Live the Word (LtW) focuses on getting Catholics to read and use the Bible. It promotes the Liturgical Bible Study (LBS) method of appreciating and studying the scriptures. It is a practical method of doing Bible study in small groups, as well as in the family setting.
LIVE LIFE
WE PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF LIFE.
“I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life, then, that you and your descendants may live” (Dt 30:19b)
The challenge: The world is dominated by the culture of DEATH (divorce, euthanasia, abortion, total population control, homosexual relationships). This has seeped into all sectors of society, and many Christians have embraced it. How can God’s people rise in defense of the culture of life?
Live Life (LL) is advocacy for the culture of life. It staunchly opposes reproductive health forces and gender ideology that promote a culture of death.
LIVE FULL
WE PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF POVERTY.
“Blessed are you who are poor, for the kingdom of God is yours. Blessed are you who are now hungry, for you will be satisfied.” (Lk 6:20b-21a)
The challenge: Most of the people of the world are poor, and living beneath their dignity as children of God. But there are enough resources in the world to satisfy the needs of all. How can Christians share what they have so that there is no one in need, so that all may be fulfilled (be full and filled), so that the dignity of the poor as children of God is uplifted?
Live Full (LF) is about building the Church of the Poor. As the icon of poverty is hunger, then the opposite is a full stomach. This work looks to building communities through holistic development, providing formation, livelihood, education, shelter and health components. This is done through the No One in Need (NONe) Movement. In the model of the first Christian community, the haves share with the have-nots, so that there is no one in need. And it is thus that the haves also share in the blessing. "Those who give alms will enjoy a full life." (Tb 12:9b).
LIVE THE FAITH
WE PROCLAIM THE GOSPEL OF CATHOLICITY.
“Contend for the faith that was once for all handed down to the holy ones.” (Jude 1:3b).
The challenge: Many lay Catholics, including those who are sacramentalized and have been evangelized, are not adequately catechized. They have very limited knowledge of the specific aspects of their Catholic faith. The Church herself is under attack by secular and modernist forces. How can Catholics understand, appreciate and more robustly live out their Catholic faith?
Live the Faith (LtF) focuses on Catechesis and Apologetics. It teaches aspects of the faith that are specifically Catholic (versus just Christian), and defends these against those who distort Church teaching. It seeks to help strengthen the one and only true Church established by Jesus.
